This indicator provides a list of municipalities in Orange County that have either a stand-alone open space plan or include open space policies within their comprehensive plans. The data also lists the type of plan and the year it was adopted or published.

2021 Comprehensive Plan calls for creating an open-space/farmland preservation plan, but none adopted as a separate document.

Municipality: Mount Hope

“Open Space Plan” exists as a chapter in the 1991 Master Plan and is referenced in later comp-plan updates, but no separate plan.

Municipality: Walden

Open-space and park policies are part of the 2019–2020 Comprehensive Plan update, not a stand-alone OS plan.


Summary Statement

The data shows that several municipalities, including the Town of Blooming Grove, the Town of Chester, the Town of Cornwall, and the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson, have specific open space or recreation plans. Other towns, such as Crawford, Goshen, Monroe, Montgomery, and Mount Hope, address open space through policies within their comprehensive plans rather than in a separate document. The Town of Warwick has a Community Preservation Project Plan that was adopted in 2006 and amended in 2018.
