Food Insecurity
What does this measure?
This dataset tracks food insecurity rates across several counties in the Hudson Valley and New York State (excluding NYC) for the years 2014, 2016, and 2021. Food insecurity refers to the percentage of people who lack consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. This indicator highlights financial instability and reflects broader issues such as poverty, unemployment, and gaps in social support systems. Monitoring food insecurity over time helps inform policies and programs aimed at reducing hunger and improving access to nutritious food in vulnerable communities.
