Supplemental Security Income Recipients
What does this measure?
This indicator is measuring the number of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients in several Hudson Valley counties and New York State. The data covers a range of years, providing a long-term look at the number of recipients from 2001 to 2023.
Summary Statement
In summary, the data indicates a significant increase in the number of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients across various counties from the early 2000s until 2013. However, a clear reversal of this trend is evident in the subsequent years, as the number of recipients decreased across all counties in New York State from 2021 to 2023. For instance, Orange County had 5,955 SSI recipients in 2001, which decreased to 5,884 in 2005. It then increased to the highest number of 7,224 in 2013, but subsequently decreased again to 6,451 in 2023.
