What does this measure?
This indicator reports the per capita income in inflation-adjusted dollars for residents of the Hudson Valley counties and the New York State total. Per capita income represents the average income earned per person in a given area each year. The table presents data from the years 2005, 2009, 2012, and 2023, allowing for analysis of long-term income trends.

Summary Statement
In 2023, Orange County reported a per capita income of $41,149, up from $30,397 in 2012 — an increase of $10,752 over 11 years. This growth followed consistent increases across earlier years, with Orange's income rising from $26,491 in 2005 to $28,272 in 2009. All Hudson Valley counties experienced per capita income rise steadily between 2012 and 2023. For example, Dutchess County reached $50,196, after rising from $29,391 in 2005. In the most recent report in 2023, Westchester County had the highest per capita income of all counties at $69,410. The only county that did not experience the same steady increase was Sullivan County. In 2005, Sullivan County reported a per capita income of $23,572, which then declined to $23,491 in 2009, before rising again to $24,462 in 2012, then reaching its highest reported year in 2023, at $41,394.
