What does this measure?
This data tracks tourism spending in Orange County and the Hudson Valley across multiple years. The first section shows Orange County’s tourism spending by category (such as hotel, transportation, food, shopping, and entertainment) for the years 2010, 2011, and 2012, as well as the percent change from 2010 to 2012. It also includes tourism-generated tax revenues for both county and state sales tax. The second section compares tourism revenue per resident and total tourism revenue from 2007 to 2022 in Orange County, Dutchess, Putnam, Sullivan, Ulster counties, and New York State (excluding NYC).

Summary statement
In recent years, tourism revenue in Orange County has steadily increased, reaching $1,111,439,824 in 2022, up from $628,918,918 in 2020 and $590,631,205 in 2007. Despite the dip during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the county quickly recovered. Per resident tourism revenue rose from $1,603 in 2007 to $2,738 in 2022, an increase of over 70%. These trends show that tourism remains a growing and resilient part of Orange County’s economy, with higher visitor spending and a stronger local impact each year.
