Median Family Income by County
What does this measure?
This indicator looks at median family income levels in Orange County and the other Hudson Valley counties for the years 2005 through 2023. Median family income divides the income distribution into two halves — one half of families earning more and the other earning less — and includes all families, even those reporting no income.
Summary Statement
In 2023, Orange County’s median family income was $109,278, up almost 53% from 2005 but only up 9% from 2019. Ulster County saw the greatest increase over the 18-year period, up almost 84%. Sullivan County’s median income increased by 43.7% from 2019 to 2023, the highest percentage increase in that time period, and more than doubling New York State’s overall growth during the same time period.
