What does this measure?

This indicator reports the number of farm stands operating in select Hudson Valley counties as of 2025. Farm stands are small-scale, typically seasonal outlets where farms sell produce or goods directly to consumers.

Orange County: 7

Dutchess County: 3

Ulster County: 1

Westchester County: 2

Summary Statement

In 2025, Orange County reported the highest number of farm stands (7)  in the regions where data was available, more than double the number in any other listed county. Dutchess County followed with 3 farm stands, while Westchester County had 2, and Ulster County reported 1. This distribution suggests that Orange County plays a leading role in direct-to-consumer farm sales in the lower Hudson Valley.
