What does this measure?

This indicator tracks the amount of total precipitation in inches over the past year for several New York counties and compares it to historical averages and the statewide average. It highlights which areas are experiencing wetter conditions and by how much, which can be important for agriculture, water management, and flood preparedness.

Summary Statement

Based on the data provided, all of the listed counties received above-average precipitation over the past year compared to their own historical averages. However, when compared to the statewide average for the same period, only Dutchess County was below that average, at 9.8 inches below. The other counties were all above the statewide average. Sullivan County had the highest total precipitation at 55.9 inches, which was also the largest deviation from its historical average, at 10.3 inches above.
