What does this measure?
This indicator is measuring the composition of households in the Hudson Valley. The table provides data on the total number of households and the percentages of various household types, including married couples, unmarried partners, Same-sex households, grandparents serving as parents, and people living alone across several years from 2010 to 2023.
Summary Statement
In summary, the data shows that while the total number of households has increased significantly, the percentage of married couples has generally decreased, whereas the number of unmarried partners has generally increased. Additionally, the number of grandparents serving as parents has also seen a significant rise, particularly in Dutchess County, which grew from as low as 0.6% in 2010 to as high as 34.9% in 2023. Moreover, the number of individuals living alone also decreased in all counties during the same time period.
