What does this measure?

This table analyzes job inflow and outflow trends in Orange County from 2007 to 2022. It shows the number of people employed in Orange County, whether they live in Orange County or commute from elsewhere, as well as how many residents work within or outside the county. The percentages represent the share of people in each category relative to the total number of workers either employed in or living in the county.

Summary Statement

In 2022, a total of 144,658 people were employed in Orange County. Of these, 65,215 (45%) lived outside the county and commuted in, while 79,443 (55%) both lived and worked in the county. At the same time, 175,098 people lived in Orange County, but over half (95,655 or 55%) commuted out for work, while 79,443 (45%) lived and worked in the county.
