What does this measure?

This indicator measures the total acres of paved public roads in Orange County. Data is shown for 2011, broken down by ownership (towns and villages, county, New York State Department of Transportation, and other), as well as 2025 figures expressed in centerline miles and land miles.

Summary Statement

In 2011, Orange County had 7,063.3 acres of paved public roads, with the majority (64.8%) maintained by towns and villages. The county itself managed 11.1%, NYSDOT 14.7%, and other entities 9.4%. By 2025, reporting shifted from acreage to mileage, with a total of 301.88 centerline miles and 606.64 land miles of paved public roads recorded for the county.
